Florence Academy of the Arts is an Italian establishment of higher educational activity situated in the celebrated eye of Florence. Modeled on the liberal arts curricular tradition, FUA offers a wide variety of courses in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences and natural sciences. FUA has a highly qualified and dedicated international kinesthesia, a large proportion of which is of Italian nationality.

FUA offers a diverseness of actress-curricular activities, such as city walks, film viewings, and sports nights. A weekend trip to Sicily is included in the Program Fee.

Language of Instruction All courses are taught in English, unless otherwise specified. Italian didactics available.

Living Arrangements All participants are housed in shared rooms in apartments in the celebrated urban center center, within xx walking minutes of a university facility. Housing costs are included in the program fee. The apartments are each unique, but will include the following features: mutual living infinite with kitchen, multiple occupancy bedrooms, one bath for every four students, internet access, air-conditioning and a washing motorcar.

Single rooms are bachelor for an additional fee on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Additional Information A Partner University plan is a study abroad feel where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Beck University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.

Program Housing Argument: Stony Beck University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

Form Information

Minimum of 15 credits required

Participants will take 15 credits. Students volition select from the following options:

  • Option A: half-dozen credit Italian language + iii Academic classes
  • Pick B: six credit Italian culture + three Bookish classes
  • Pick C: 3 credit Italian language, iii credit internship/experiential learning + 3 Bookish classes
  • Option D: half-dozen credit experiential learning + 3 Academic classes

Option A: Students enroll in a 6 credit intensive Italian Language grade. Students who have NOT had previous experience with Italian will take an introductory course. Students who have studied Italian at their home academy volition take a placement exam to determine the appropriate level of instruction.

Selection B: Students enroll is a half dozen credit Italian Civilization course (Cultural Perspectives: Awareness, Exposure, and Date). This course studies Italian culture through activeness and participation. This course also includes a language component which acts every bit a bridge to culture based on communication skills.

Academic Policies

  • Students must maintain full-time status while abroad

  • Non-SBU students must contact their home university regarding their grade and credit transfer policy.
